Jack Johnson Partners With Charity In Brazil
Jack Johnson and the All At Once Campaign are partnering with Surfrider Brasil for this concerts in Olinda, Brasilia, Florianopolis and Rio de Janeiro.
You can visit their booth at the concerts to learn more about how to get involved in local projects and find out more about the Surf For the Forests campaign. As part of the All At Once matching donation opportunity, you can make a donation to Surfrider Brasil through June 15 and it will be matched by the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation (up to a total of $2500 US).
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education. Learn more about the Surfrider Foundation at www.surfrider.org.
Jack was also recently personally thanked by the Ambassador of Japan for his $50,000 donation in the wake of the country’s devastating tsunami, as well as for his involvement in a special celebrity charity concert to help victims.
“On behalf of my country, I would like to express my sincere gratitude in your efforts to help rebuild Japan and assist those affected by the recent earthquake,” wrote Ichiro Fujisaki. “As we face challenges of unprecedented magnitude, it simply means so much for us to have friends around the world standing by our side and I am deeply moved by your message of solidarity and overwhelming support.”

These gorgeous cherry print heels stir up happy childhood memories
? Day 132 of Vintage 365 ?
The sun whipped across our necks in long lashes, the dry dessert air smelled of sizzling concrete and honeysuckle, and the breeze felt as electric as every fan that was running at the moment in the whole town.
This is how I remember those toasty, endlessly long, wildly beautiful late afternoons and early dusks as my brother and I peddled our bikes (mine red, his blue) around the neighbourhood, gathering about-fall-at-any-moment cherries from the branches of neighbours (who knowing the fruit would go to waste otherwise, had given my family permission to help ourselves to it).
With buckets and plastic shopping bags dangling from our handlebars - much like plump burgundy spheres of fruit threating to tumble from the trees themselves - we'd pull to the side of the dusty alleyways, apricot light dancing around our sun-bleached hair - and grab as many cherries as our little fingers could.
I grew up in a land of orchards and history, old houses interspersed with small small backyard gardens that produced more fruit than a clan of bears could get through in a season. Much of this produce was picked and savoured, turned into pies, jams, eaten fresh, and put up for the winter in glistening rows of boiled-fresh Mason jars.
Though I can never quite decide which fruit holds the dearest memory in my mind, peaches and cherries - both of which I picked in great abundance - are two very close contenders.
It is because of these early memories of gathering cherries in the shade of Edwardian era homes, aging neighbours smiling at us from their porches, the feeling of fruit juice running down my wrists as I plunked another handful into my crimson stained bucket, that I am drawn - almost inherently - to items featuring images of cherries.
Thankfully, this love of one of the world's tastiest fruits meshes well with my adoration of vintage fashion, for now - as in decades gone by - cherries remain an endearingly popular motif for all manner of clothing and accessories.
These splendidly pretty shoes, which feature cherries in a much more understated and easy-to-pull off manner than many pin-up girl and vintage inspired fruit adorned pieces, are the footwear equivalent of my early cherry picking memories: playful, hardworking, and absolutely lovely.

In a statement issued on Thursday (May 19) U.S. Attorney Jim Letten said that the New Orleans native -- real name, Christopher Dorsey -- is facing one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice and two counts of being a felon in possession of a fireman, following a November 2009 arrest.
B.G. and two associates were pulled over and arrested after a routine traffic stop in 2009, when police found three handguns, loaded magazines and extended clips in the rapper's car. B.G. and one associate were charged with illegally carrying firearms, while the third passenger was charged with drug possession.

High maintenance
Here are some of the more outrageous ones:
1) Dressing room must be draped in either cream or soft pink
2) It must also come with two cream-coloured egg chairs, one of which must come with a footstool
3)Two floor lamps in "French ornate style"
4) Refrigerator must come with glass door
5) As for flowers, Katy wants white and purple hydrangeas, pink and white roses and peonies. If those can't be found, white orchids will be fine. In no circumstances should carnations be found in Katy's dressing room.
Here comes the weird one:
6) Chauffeurs are now allowed to speak to Katy, her guests or her fans. They are also not allowed to stare at the backseat through the rear view mirror.
Katy, seriously? A rider that's 45-page long? We would've expected something like that from Mariah but not you!

CB2 Opening Party in Georgetown
Last night I attended the opening party for the new CB2 that just opened in Georgetown. I can't tell you how excited I am that a CB2 opened here considering there are only nine CB2 stores! I love CB2. I'm constantly on the site dreaming of the furniture I want for my new place. I picked some of my favorite pieces below. I know, white white white.

Shameless Self-Promo: Modern Military

I'm sorry for the shameless self-promotion, but now that I'm working for myself (and trying to make my own businesses my full-time job) I need all the help I can get. (It's hard to put yourself out there sometimes!) Besides starting to take advertising on MIMI+MEG (e-mail me for info!), doing some social media consulting and e-decorating, I've had a business I've been working on for a while. If you've been reading M+M for a while you might know that my husband was in the Air Force. (Due to a car accident & severe neck injury he is not in the Air Force anymore.) But I came up with an idea that regardless of him being in the military or not, I wanted to do anyway.
The selection for cute, affordable, patriotic/military-inspired clothing is pretty dismal, so I wanted to create one and I just launched it last night! I don't expect you all to be interested in the majority of the Modern Military line because it's pretty military-specific, and right now I only have a limited amount of designs until we get some business, but there are two designs you might like, and I'll be coming out with more not-branch-specific designs later.
My personal favorite is the gold flag tee! I can't wait to get these in and get real photos of them! I wear t-shirts under boyfriend jackets and safari-style jackets all the time, so personally I'm excited about the shirts! (They are all American Apparel tees!)
Right now everything is currently on pre-sale status until I can get enough orders to get them printed, so I thank you for your patience (and putting up with this post). If you have any friends that are military wives, I'd be grateful if you'd pass the Modern Military sites along to them. Thank you so much.
